Emphasize Omega-3s & avoiding Trans Fat AS Police Reform

Omega-3 is an Essential Fatty Acid our body cannot manufacture, we have to get it from food. The World Health Organization recommends a balanced fat-intake ratio of 1:4 Omega-3:Omega-6 in order to maintain health. However typical Western diets often fall in the range of 1:16-1:20. Deficiency in Omega-3 is one of the most common things that could be impairing both physical and mental health. Dr. Andrew Weil sites fat-intake imbalances & abundance of processed foods as main culprits behind the obesity epidemic and inflammatory illnesses.

- Police officers already have high-stress/anxiety jobs, it's imperative that brain-supportive nutrients work in their favor. It's detrimental to public safety for Cops to experience mood disorders or cognitive impairments linked to Omega-3 deficiency.

-  Factors such as poor diet, lack of sleep, prolonged sitting take a toll on health but fat-balanced diet can help officers avert cardiac arrest.

- TRANS FATS have been COMMON IN DONUT FRYING so cops exposed to #AdulteratedOil can BENEFIT from artery-unclogging DIETARY ADVICE.

We hope social justice organizations & law enforcement will lead by example to encourage wellness as disease-prevention.

Let’s make it a priority!

OFAN Recommends: Fatty-acid balance tests and assessments right away. There’s ample scientific studies underpinning dietary adjustment guidance (lowering junk-oils while upping good fats). We are asking nicely for brainfood reminders be posted in stations with statements like “Don't forget your Omega-3s” and “Got Fatty-acid balance?”. Try programming “brainfood breaks”: take 10-15 minutes to enjoy Omega3-rich foods & learn about their important roles in physiological systems.

Give a presentation  to your local police union, training commission, or public relations board etc. Use ours with the link here, titled "Brainfood Break Breakdown for Police": http://bit.ly/1G4xTVN

Give a Brainfood postcard  to officers or leave it on their windshield wiper
